Although a very difficult 32 mile walk in one day, consider breaking the walk down into 2 or 3 sections, enjoyiing the views and stopping at excellent pubs, guest houses or hotels along the way.
elow: Durdle Door. 10 miles completed
Walking the route from Swanage may give you the benefit of the prevailing south westerly breeze in your face.
The route is to simply follow the coastal path and it passes through Osmington Mills, Ringstead and Lulworth Cove, Kimmeridge. It also pases very close to Osmington, Kimmeridge, West Lulworth, Kingston and Worth Matravers and they will be options for accommodation and refreshments.
Below: Kimmeridge Bay (18 miles) with St Alban's/St Aldhelm's Head (24.5 miiles) in the distance.
Below: Anvil Point and its Lighthouse ahead. Only 6 miles to Swanage!
A map is recommended as it will give you some alternatives routes should you wish to avoid any steep downhill and uphiill sections at some stages. This may increase the distance walked at times although not by a great amount.
If the terrain is good underfoot, trainers may be acceptable but walking boots are recommended to be certain of good support and grip as some parts can stay wet for some time and the clay soil, found at some stages, can remain a little slippery.
Visit the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) site for Dorset for confirmation of the official walk date.
